Warrior build: physical progression and a separate thorns route

Reference data: 1.0.0i. Talent examples are planner-checked, not gameplay-tested.

Use Valiant Strike and Half Moon Slash from level 20, with Rage Shield when you need protection. Follow the level-32 talent example; a thorns build needs a separate damage and survival setup.

Build a physical progression loop

Start with Valiant Strike. Cleave unlocks at 15 for groups, Half Moon Slash at 20 for a physical strong attack, and Whirlwind at 35 for close-range area damage. Do not buy physical bonuses expecting them to increase Flame Strike, which deals fire damage.

Use Rage Shield from level 15 when incoming hits are the bottleneck. Deadly Hook at 25 pulls enemies and applies Vulnerable. For a level-32 character, Valiant Strike + Half Moon Slash with Rage Shield + Deadly Hook is an available physical loadout; Whirlwind is a later option.

Level-32 physical talent example

This starting allocation meets the current row requirements and node limits in the data planner. It supports physical progression, but its damage has not been tested in game.

Order Add points Total spent
1 Strength 5; Critical Hit Chance 5 10
2 Heavy Blow 1; Cleaving Rage 4 15
3 Enhance Valiant Strike: Mana Gain 5 20
4 Weakness Mastery 5; Strength 5 more 30
5 Charged and Ready 1 31

It needs level 32. Heavy Blow applies Vulnerable on a direct critical strong-attack hit. Weakness Mastery only pays off while the target is Vulnerable; Deadly Hook supplies another way to apply it. Keep Valiant Strike for the mana node in this example. Changing the basic attack calls for changing that investment too.

Sustain before adding expensive damage

Whirlwind costs 85 mana at its base skill level. Enhance Strong Attack: Mana opens after 15 spent points and reduces strong-attack costs. Molten Might unlocks at character level 45 and supplies mana plus temporary strong-attack support.

A damage node that also raises mana cost can weaken the full loop when the character stops casting. Check the red insufficient-mana indication added by patch 1.0.0i, then compare mana generation and consumption before spending more.

Treat thorns as its own build

For thorns, invest in Thorn, Enhance Thorn and Vicious Thorns rather than relying on ordinary weapon damage alone. Vicious Thorns is a 10-point capstone that lets Thorn critically hit. Iron Thorn unlocks at level 40 and adds an area effect based on your Thorn value. Ironblood, after 50 spent points, adds a share of maximum health to Thorn.

Use health and mitigation to remain alive while enemies hit you. This differs from a Whirlwind setup: a tooltip showing high weapon damage does not prove a thorns upgrade, and a thorns hit shown by another player is not an equal-gear comparison. Start with physical progression if those prerequisites are missing.

Runes, gear and failure checks

For Whirlwind, Eye of the Storm gives physical damage at two pieces, improves Whirlwind at four, and changes special-skill use while channeling at six. Set runes drop on Inferno; six slots require level 65. Ordinary skill runes and suitable Strength/physical equipment are the fallback before that.

Use a weapon and attributes that match the chosen skill, while keeping health, Armor, Magic Resist and recovery appropriate to the enemy. Against a poison attacker, Armor alone does not solve the damage type. Against a lone boss, bonuses needing kills or several nearby enemies may lose their condition. Compare the same map before keeping a change.
